    Why this role exists

BoardOutlook gives Chairs and CEOs the intelligence to understand whether their board and leadership team are ready for what is ahead.

We work with many of Australia and the UK’s leading organisations, including ASX100 and FTSE100 companies, major government entities, private businesses and not-for-profit organisations.

We are entering the next phase of our growth.

A significant part of that growth will come from going deeper with the organisations we already work with. That means building stronger senior relationships, increasing the value clients get from the platform, expanding the ways they use BoardOutlook, and generating new opportunities through trusted introductions.

We are looking for a commercial leader who knows how to build that kind of growth engine.

    About the role

This is a senior executive leadership role with responsibility for BoardOutlook’s commercial function.

You will lead the team responsible for our client relationships, revenue growth and new business, with an account-management-first approach.

    That distinction matters.

We are not looking for someone whose primary playbook is generating more leads and pushing them through a traditional sales funnel. We work with a relatively small number of senior decision-makers, often Chairs, CEOs and other members of leadership teams. These relationships develop over time and depend heavily on trust, credibility and demonstrated value.

The strongest commercial opportunities often begin inside relationships we already have.

Your role is to build the team, systems and commercial discipline required to manage those relationships exceptionally well and turn great client outcomes into retention, expansion, introductions and new business.

You will report directly to the CEO, work closely with the senior leadership team and have responsibility across our Australian and UK markets.

    What you will own

Your accountability will span the commercial function, viewed through an account-management-first lens.

    You will be responsible for:

    • Revenue growth across existing and new clients
    • Client retention and expansion
    • The quality and consistency of account management across the business
    • Building strong relationships with Chairs, CEOs and other senior stakeholders
    • Developing clear account plans for our most important clients
    • Identifying opportunities to broaden relationships across boards and executive teams
    • Creating a disciplined and repeatable approach to client introductions and referrals
    • Ensuring clients are getting meaningful and ongoing value from the BoardOutlook platform
    • Leading new business opportunities that emerge from our network, client base and market presence
    • Building the commercial capability of the team
    • Recruiting, developing and leading high-quality commercial talent
    • Establishing the operating rhythm, measures and accountability required to run the function well
    • Working closely with product and marketing to bring market insight back into the business

You will also maintain direct relationships with a small number of important clients. We want the person leading the function to remain close to the market and deeply understand what our clients are thinking about.

    What you will actually do

    In your first 90 days

You will spend significant time with clients and the team.

You will build a clear understanding of our client base, the quality of our relationships, where clients are getting the most value, and where the biggest opportunities exist to deepen those relationships.

You will assess the commercial capability of the team and establish a clear standard for excellent account management at BoardOutlook.

You will begin strengthening account planning, relationship management and the commercial operating cadence across the business.

Most importantly, you will develop your own view of what will create the greatest commercial leverage from the client base we have built.

    Ongoing

    You will:

    • Lead the commercial team with clear expectations, strong coaching and consistent accountability
    • Build a world-class account management capability
    • Ensure our most important client relationships are actively and thoughtfully managed
    • Help account owners understand the organisations they work with, the people who matter and the opportunities to create more value
    • Build a systematic approach to retention, expansion and introductions
    • Improve adoption and engagement with the BoardOutlook platform
    • Work closely with product and marketing on how we position and expand the platform
    • Lead senior client relationships across Australia and the UK
    • Maintain a clear view of commercial performance and emerging opportunities
    • Develop a team capable of operating credibly with Chairs, CEOs and senior executives

    Where you have come from

We are looking for someone whose track record reads more like account leadership than traditional sales leadership.

You have probably spent much of your career growing complex, high-value client relationships.

You can point to accounts that became materially larger over several years and explain how that happened. Not simply that revenue increased, but how trust was built, how additional opportunities emerged, which relationships mattered and how the account developed.

You are likely to have experience in professional services, advisory, enterprise SaaS or another high-value B2B environment where senior relationships carry significant commercial weight.

    You will have:

    • Grown significant existing client accounts over time
    • Built trusted relationships with senior executives and decision-makers
    • Managed long and complex commercial cycles
    • Improved client retention and account growth
    • Built account management capability in other people
    • Led and developed commercial teams
    • Worked across multiple markets or geographies
    • Operated in a growing business where commercial systems and capability needed to mature quickly

Experience selling to boards, CEOs or senior executive teams would be particularly valuable.

    How you operate

You are deeply curious about client organisations.

You want to understand what is happening inside the organisation, what its leaders are trying to achieve, what is changing around them and where BoardOutlook can genuinely help.

You are commercially minded without being transactional.

You understand that in high-trust markets, the quality of the relationship and the value created for the client ultimately determine the commercial outcome.

You know your numbers and manage them closely, but you also understand the underlying client behaviour that creates those numbers.

You coach people rather than simply taking over important conversations yourself.

You are comfortable with long sales cycles and know when to push and when to let a relationship develop.

You set a high standard, give clear feedback and hold people accountable.

When something is not working, you surface it quickly and work out what needs to change.

And you believe exceptional client experience should create commercial momentum.

    What this role is not

This is not primarily an outbound sales leadership role.

It is not a high-volume, high-velocity sales environment.

It is not a role where client management and commercial ownership sit in separate worlds.

And it is not a pure customer success role focused only on satisfaction or service delivery.

We want someone who sees exceptional account management as one of the most important commercial capabilities a business can build.

Someone who understands that the best client relationships should lead naturally to retention, expansion, introductions and new opportunities.

    How we will measure success

Success will ultimately be visible in a small number of outcomes:

    • Strong client retention
    • Growth within the existing client base
    • Increasing depth and breadth of senior client relationships
    • Greater adoption and use of the BoardOutlook platform
    • High-quality introductions and referrals from existing clients
    • New relationships created through our client network and market presence
    • Continued overall revenue growth
    • A commercial team operating to a consistently high standard

Just as importantly, we should be able to see that BoardOutlook has developed a genuinely distinctive account management capability.
